National book week celebrated

The University of Negros Occidental-Recoletos Fray Luis de Leon Library held the Awarding of the Top Borrowers and IMC Users 2009-2010, and the launching of the Library Web page yesterday, at the 2nd floor Fray Luis Library.

It was on the theme “Global Interaction for linkages through books and Information Communication Technology” or “Pangdaigdigang Pakikipag-ugnayan sa Pamamagitan ng Aklat, Komyunikasyon at Teknolohiya,” and this is in line with the 76th National Book Week celebration recently, a press release from UNO-R in Bacolod City said.

Chairman Virgie Mugar, of National Book Week and the Technology Librarian of UNO-R, said the event is the tradition of Fray Luis de Leon Library to give recognition to students and faculty for their support for many years.

Dennis Udani (BS Accountancy), Beatrice Jeon (Grade III-Sunflower), and Farah Garilva (Grade IV-Gold) were awarded as top borrowers from the students category, while Nieves Pepito (Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences) and Marissa Petalla (Grade School) were the top borrowers from the faculty category. Ma. Rosario Abaring (College of Business and Accountancy), Ma. Riza Manalo (College of Arts and Sciences), and Patchito Moreno (College of Education) were awarded as the top IMC users, the press release said.

Ricky Noel Diancin Jr., a fourth year ComSci Student, with Belmar John Perido, and Pauline Ventor launched the newest Library Webpage.

The Director of Libraries and also a member of the Board for Librarians, Arabella Ananoria, acknowledged those who witnessed and participated in the annual event, the press release added.*
